Steps to sale

Initial instructions

When you first instruct us, your designated sales negotiator will meet with you and discuss:

  • Why you are selling
  • What your business is about
  • What your business is worth
  • What your needs and expectations are
We will then be able to advise you on how much you should market your business for and what the likely timetable will be for its sale.

Sales memorandum

Once you have decided to instruct us, we have agreed the sale price of your business and we fully understand what your business is about, we will prepare a Sales Memorandum. This will be sent to prospective purchasers once they have signed a confidentiality agreement.

Marketing your business

Once we have finalised your Sales Memorandum, your business will be actively marketed, until its sale, as follows:

1. On our website - we receive thousands of visitors to our site each week, many of whom are potential purchasers

2. Details of your business will be sent to thousands of potential purchasers who are already registered with us

3. Details of your business will be sent around our 'Sales Network' every 2 weeks. This is a network founded by us that consists of corporate solicitors, accountants and other business advisors, all of whom have clients looking for companies to buy

4. Details of your business will appear in our adverts from time to time. These appear in publications such as:

  • Daltons Weekly
  • Daltons Business
  • Trade publications (ie: Nursery World, Caterer etc..)
  • Local papers/magazines
Prospective buyers

We will deal with all enquiries from prospective buyers and arrange viewings with them.

Negotiations

We will assess all offers made for your business and help you to decide whether to accept or reject such offers. We will also deal with all negotiations on your behalf.

Finalising the deal

Once a sale has been achieved, we will instruct Dunham Solicitors LLP to deal with the legal documentation and bring the sale to a conclusion. We will keep in constant contact with yourself and Dunham Solicitors LLP until the sale is complete to ensure that all goes smoothly. In this respect, we are located in the same building as Dunham Solicitors so have a very close working relationship with them.
